‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 5 was first aired on September 24, 2007 and it had a special premiere. Season finale was aired on November 27, 2007 and in this episode, Hélio Castroneves and Julianne Hough were announced winners. Fifth season was hosted by Tom Bergeron and Drew Lachey appeared as the co-host because Samantha Harris was on maternity leave. Lee Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba returned as judges. After delivering her baby, Samantha retuned on October 15, 2007.

List of celebrities, who’re finalized to appear in the Fifth season, was announced on ‘Good Morning America’ by the host Tom Bergeron, and the judge Carrie Ann Inaba and the celebrity champion Apolo Anton Ohno. 12 couples were introduced this season and here’s the list:

This season dealt with more controversies than any other season. In second week of competition, Newton and Burke received the lowest scores but instead of them, Reed and Anna Trebunskaya were eliminated from the competition. Later on, Sabrina Bryan/ Mark Ballas were eliminated instead of Marie Osmond/Jonathan Roberts who had lower scores than them and it was the most shocking moment of 2007, as per TV guide. A single named ‘Let’s Dance’, by Vanessa Hudgens, was used to promote the fifth season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’. Some fans were shocked to know Hélio Castroneves/Julianne Hough as the winners because as per their views, Mel B was a better dancer than Castroneves.
